I have said it before and I will say it again: Following your dreams will take you to places that you can’t even imagine. Trust me. I recently had the opportunity to photograph a destination wedding in Hawaii. Wait, did I just say that?! I have an amazing friend who happens to be a fellow photographer named Katie who brought me along to 2nd shoot a wedding. We have worked together dozens of times before but this one was different. This wedding took me to a location I have only dreamed of going to. I arrived a few days before the wedding so I had a chance to fix any missed flights which was perfect because who wouldn’t want a few days to explore Honolulu, Hawaii? We drove around, saw some empty white sandy beaches, watched the surfers in the North Shore, drank out of huge pineapples and best of all went to show our respect at Pearl Harbor. Saturday was the day of the wedding and it was amazing. My only complaint was that I wore too much sunscreen and I came back looking like I hid in the hotel room the whole time. Shame on me! 😉 Now I will have to go back with Alex and take a helicopter ride, that’s my dream. There I said it, once you say it out loud then it has to happen. So here are a few amazing photos from our time in Hawaii.
So, this is Katie. Hawaii certainly agrees with her.
What’s a little location scouting without an impromptu photo shoot?
Oh yeah, a cute same sex couple were exchanging vows on the beach and someone was handing out bubbles to blow and celebrate.
Then we went to Pearl Harbor.
This memorial was so simple but yet so impactful, it is hard to believe they only give you 15 minutes to see it.
The plants were so pretty.
We had this beach practically to ourselves.
Sharing it with a few surfers was tough but we managed.
Jurassic Park anyone?
As I sat and enjoyed the sunset I was pleased to see this couple sitting together and enjoying it from start to finish.
This was our hotel, just across the street from the beach. Katie did good.
Did you know they have a gorgeous park in the middle of the airport?
Isn’t this tree amazing? Did I mention it was in the middle of the airport?
They are teasing us as we take off with that last view of the perfect blue water.
Hello again LAX, missed you so.
These were a few phone snaps, if you follow me on Instagram you probably have seen a few already.
A few notes that are important:
Top left: Katie and I meeting one of the 10 survivors from the USS Arizona.
Middle left: Katie found out Kate Spade makes phone cases for her new phone, so obviously we had to find a Best Buy and check it out.

Okay friends, I am going to need to do another destination wedding.
So if you or someone you know is getting married and needs a photographer, you know who to call. 🙂
A huge Thank you to Katie Jackson herself for bringing me along for an amazing adventure.
